A Letter To Myself On Writing

In a society that prides itself on the volume of achievement, its easy to fall into a feeling of paralyzing fear to start a new endeavour, especially if you lack the credentials to back up the new venture. It can, oftentimes, hinder us from trying anything new because “we’re not experts.” We all have secret desires to evolve and be something else — something we only ever dreamed of. It's part of our own growth and evolution process.

I’m here to tell you to take the first step! Plain and simple, do it!

It doesn’t always come down to the experience you have to prove your capabilities for your new venture but the experience and commitment that you’re willing to embark on. Taking the first step, with honest commitment, will transpire into a domino effect. You’ll discover your best hours to work on your new endeavor. Then you’ll find yourself saturated amongst new like-minded peers, yearning for the constructive criticism you once feared because you see how it helps you grow forward until one day, you find yourself mastering the art. Remind yourself that everyone has once started their artistic or professional endeavors from humble beginnings. And if their career didn’t launch from years and years of practice, it launched because they were in the right place/right time with a portfolio of their new work under their belt.

Don’t fear rejection or criticism, but fear having never tried.
